Harvest / Season : Late

Description: Vigorous hybrid with large fruit. Skin green, maturing to yellow, sometimes blushed orange. Flesh yellow-white, firm, juicy, crisp but coarse; slightly aromatic. All-purpose apple, Excellent flavor. Highly resistant to frost injury. Prone to bitter pit. Multiple calcium sprays help reduce bitter pit.

Description: Mcintosh hybrid. apples are very round, and have red skin with yellow patches. The greenish-white flesh inside is firm, fragrant and fine-grained. The taste is a good balance of sweetness and tartness. Does not store well, but it has great "McIntosh flavor for an early apple

Other Characteristics : Hardiness zone: 4,5,6,7,8,9 We grow it in Minnesota, but it is prone to winterkill in the more severe or snowless winters.

JONATHON

Parentage / Origin : Woodstock, NY 1862

Harvest / Season : Late

Description: Jonathan apple arose on the farm of Philip Rick, Woodstock, Ulster County, New York, USA. Believed to be an Esopus Spitzenburg seedling. A medium sized apple. Oblong to round-conical shape, ribbed and slightly five-crowned. Half to three-quarters flushed bright crimson with scattered broken red stripes on pale yellow. White flesh, slightly green tinged. Crisp, juicy and sweet with plenty of refreshing acidity. A dual purpose apple, good for pies and sauces. A weeping tree of moderate vigour. Good cropper. Prone to mildew.
